A Timely Note: A Bloggies Nomination and Kickstarter Prelaunch
No essay today, folks, just a quick message to see if you'll...
- Vote for "Books in TTRPGs" as the Best Series for this year's Bloggies; and/or
- Follow the prelaunch for Violent Delights: A chess-based RPG about Romeo and Juliet.
Bloggies 2026 Nomination for Best Series
If you didn't hear, my essay series "Books in TTRPGs" was nominated for Best Series in this year's Bloggies, a yearly celebration of blogging in tabletop roleplaying games.
Chances are you have already read the series if you're receiving this email, but you can find them here: Books in TTRPGs (Essay Series), and each of the essays now have an audio version linked at the top too.
I'd be grateful if you lend me a vote in this competition.
Some of my other favorites in the running: Idle Cartulary's Critique Navidad! and Rise Up Comus's His Majesty the Worm.
Violent Delights is in Prelaunch
Later this year, I plan to crowdfund a new game of mine called Violent Delights: A chess-based RPG about Romeo and Juliet. It combines Shakespeare and Firebrands with chess.
I'd be violently delighted if you were to follow it on Kickstarter!
And by coincidence (not really), you can grab a playtest copy for free by following the link on the prelaunch page. If you playtest it and give me some feedback, I'll send a complimentary PDF when the game is done (for the first 10 playtesters).

Hope you don't mind this superfluous post! And thanks for subscribing. Some new essays will be going out around the time that Violent Delights launches.
